opening december 2024
It's all happening at Guulabaa...
Generous donations to our Port Macquarie Koala Hospital following the Black Summer Bushfires helped us realise our goal of building a Wild Koala Breeding facility in Cowarra State Forest (just off the Port Macquarie highway interchange). We named it ‘Guulabaa’, which means ‘Place of the Koala’ (Gathang language).
We've partnered with Bunyah Land Council, Forestry Corporation of NSW, The Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail and Wildnets Adventure Park to make Guulabaa a fantastic and welcoming place for the public to visit, learn and play.
The Koala Visitor & Education Centre is due to open in December 2024, however, popular attractions Wildnets Adventure Park, and the Big Koala Sculpture are NOW OPEN- scroll down for more info.
Our Koala Visitor Experience will open in early December 2024. For updates, check back here, subscribe to our Newsletter, or follow us on Social media.
At Guulabaa you’ll be able to:
- Observe resident koala yards* from the viewing decks,
- Immerse yourself in the interactive, educational koala experience
- Learn about our Wild Koala Breeding program,
- View koala care in action in the new koala clinic,
- Watch and learn as we prepare koala feed,
- Browse the shop for quality artisan gifts and koala merchandise,
- Indulge in something yummy from Bunyah Land Council's Cafe
- Stretch your legs along peaceful, forested pathways,
- Bounce through the treetops at Wildnets Adventure Park (NOW OPEN),
- Grab the all-important ‘Big Thing’ selfie with the Big Koala (NOW OPEN)!
*Our koala breeding yards are kept away from public view as it’s essential to keep them as close to the wild habitat as possible. However, you’ll likely spot some of our resident koalas!
