Meet Hunter, the resilient koala! Hunter was discovered in the western suburbs of Sydney, bravely navigating a busy road known for wildlife accidents. Luckily, Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife came to the rescue and brought him into care. It was found that Hunter had likely been hit by a vehicle, leaving him with reduced vision and a possible brain injury.
Due to the risks posed by his impaired state, it was decided that it wasn't safe for Hunter to return to the wild. However, he quickly adapted to his new environment, showing off his laid-back and happy personality. Hunter's story sheds light on the dangers that roads and loss of habitat pose to wildlife, while also highlighting the vital role of wildlife sanctuaries in offering safe havens for animals like him.
Hunter now has a permanent home at our Hospital, where he receives specialised, ongoing care. At 7 years old and weighing 8.4kgs, this large, mature, and healthy male joins three other special Campbelltown koalas in residence.
