Meet Casper, a (very) large adult male koala who was brought to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital after a suspected vehicle strike. We estimate he was born in 2015.
Casper was discovered by the Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services on the side of the road after being hit by a car in May 2023. At first, he showed signs of imbalance and an abnormal gait, but thankfully, he recovered to the point where he now has a good quality of life at our Hospital. Despite the lasting effects of his injuries, Casper is a very healthy koala. He’s a big boy, weighing 9.5 kg, and he sports a beautiful light grey and fluffy coat. What makes him extra special is that he hails from the Campbelltown population, one of the last wild koala populations completely free of Chlamydia.
