Exhibit Koala | Guulabaa - Place of Koala

Delungra Nigel was transferred to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital by WIRES, after being found by a member of the public entangled in a fence. He was just a tiny joey and his mother was unable to be located.

Nigel's entangled leg suffered irreversible nerve damage and the difficult decision was made to remove his injured limb. Post operation he spent a significant time in home care with one of our incredible volunteer koala care team members, receiving around the clock care.

Once old enough, Nigel was transferred to our joey yard at the Hospital, to determine his suitability for release and his ability to adapt. And while he has shown incredible skills considering he has only one leg, he was decided that return to the wild would be too dangerous with his disability.

Nigel has now found a permanent home with us at our Koala Conservation Wild Breeding Facility and Visitor Centre at Guulabaa - Place of Koala, Port Macquarie. We have been sharing his story since he arrived in September 2024 and is already a well loved member of our organisation - both with our team and visitors.
