Ocean Drive Nero came to the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie after being found in an incredibly dangerous spot on one of Port Macquarie’s busiest roads.

After a health check Nero was placed into our rehabilitation precinct as he appeared unwell and was observed sleeping on the ground. He returned blood tests that were showing unusual markers and displayed odd behaviour.

After months of observation it was determined that release back to the wild would be very risky for Ocean Drive Nero, and he is now in permanent care at the Koala
Conservation Wild Breeding Facility and Visitor Centre at Guulabaa - Place of Koala, Port Macquarie.
