Campbelltown Phil was found in the western suburbs of Sydney in mid 2024. He was rescued from a tree next to a road and was in a dazed state. It is suspected that he had been hit by a motor vehicle.
Phil was treated for concussion and other minor injuries, however on examination it was determined that Phil was partially blind. Phil is an otherwise healthy koala, approximately 5 years old at the time of rescue, but due to his vision impairment he would not survive in the wild. His carers have described Phil as gentle and calm.
Phil was transferred to the Koala Conservation Hospital Port Macquarie, and then onto our Wild Koala Breeding Centre at Guulabaa - Place of Koala for specialised ongoing care and permanent residency. Phil joins our 4 existing very special Campbelltown koalas already in residence - Ella, Casper, Benny and Hunter.
